TV ROOM BALCONY

Prolific London-based multi-instrumentalist Lucy Rushton makes appearances in a number of our favourite up-and-coming bands (including Buggs and deep tan). Yesterday, she revealed 'Balcony' - an intimate debut single under her fresh TV Room moniker. Citing Cate Le Bon, Adrianne Lenker and Courtney Barnett and influences, “like any gay self-respecting songwriter”, 'Balcony' is an open-hearted indie-pop cut that lays some of Rushton's most personal thoughts bare. Starting off with a simple drum loop and an unobtrusive bass line, Rushton's dusky vocal delivery demands your full attention, whilst comparatively upbeat instrumentation gradually enters the mix. Summing up the sentiment of the song perfectly in it's final refrain, 'people don't stay where you leave them', 'Balcony' is an honest and cathartic introduction to this talented individual's solo work. -Holly Mullineaux
